The subscales are tested in the following order: (1) Machiavellianism (2) narcissism (3) psychopathy. (1) Machiavellianism: - callous affect - manipulativeness - a strategic-calculating orientation (focus on long-term goals) (2) Narcissism - callous affect - grandiosity - quest for ego-reinforcement (2) Psychopathy - callous affect - self-control deficits/impulsivity (focus on short-term goals) ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ DURATION ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ the default set-up of the script takes appr. 3 minutes to complete ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ DATA OUTPUT DICTIONARY ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The fields in the data files are: (1) Raw data file: 'sd3.iqdat' date, time: date and time script was run with the current group/subjectnumber subject, group, session: with the current subject/groupnumber/session id build: the Inquisit build q*_response: response given (in assigned values) Scale: 1 (Disagree strongly) to 5 (Agree strongly) R = automatically reversed scored questions q*_latency: how much time (in ms) the participant spent on the surveyPage with this particular question (the last time this particular surveyPage was visited) (2) Summary data file: 'sd3_summary.iqdat' (Inquisit Lab: one data file per participant) inquisit.version: Inquisit version run computer.platform: the platform the script was run on (win/mac/ios/android) startDate: date script was run startTime: time script was started subjectId: assigned subject id number groupId: assigned group id number sessionId: assigned session id number elapsedTime: time it took to run script (in ms); measured from onset to offset of script completed: 0 = script was not completed (prematurely aborted); 1 = script was completed (all conditions run) m: the mean score (1-5) on the Machiavellianism subscale mZScore: the calculated Machiavellianism z-score based on provided norming data (see below) mPercentile: the calculated percentile of the Machiavellianism z-score based on provided norming data (see below) n: the mean score (1-5) on the Narcissism subscale nZScore: the calculated Narcissism z-score based on provided norming data (see below) nPercentile: the calculated percentile of the Narcissism z-score based on provided norming data (see below) p: the mean score (1-5) on the Psychopathy subscale nZScore: the calculated Psychopathy z-score based on provided norming data (see below) nPercentile: the calculated percentile of the Psychopathy z-score based on provided norming data (see below) + 27 individual responses ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Norming data ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Norming data: obtained from https://www.psych.ubc.ca/~dpaulhus/Paulhus_measures/SD3.1.1.doc (means and standard deviations based on a sample of 387 undergraduate students) ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ EDITABLE CODE ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ check below for (relatively) easily editable parameters, stimuli, instructions etc. Keep in mind that you can use this script as a template and therefore always "mess" with the entire code to further customize your experiment.
